HSCC Kart Classes

We offer a total of 4 classes for karts. Three are specific to HSCC and one is a standard SCCA class.

  • Junior Kart (JK): Driver must be 12-15 years old. Engine must be a 4-stroke Honda GX200 or equivalent clone. This includes the Harbor Freight Predator 212cc engine that was previously marketed as 6.5 HP but is now labeled 7 HP. Only the following modifications are allowed: air filter, exhaust pipe, valve springs, removal of the engine limiter (governor), re-jetting of the carburetor, and non-adjustable flywheel. Engine must run on pump gas. Chassis design must use a rear-only braking system, but is otherwise open as long as it is deemed safe by our Tech Inspectors.
  • Adult Kart (AK): Driver must be at least 16 years old. Engine and chassis rules are identical to Junior Kart.
  • Adult Kart Modified (AKM): Driver must be at least 16 years old. Engine requirements are the same as Junior Kart and Adult Kart but modifications are unlimited. Any fuel may be used. Forced induction and nitrous are prohibited. Only one engine may be used. Chassis design is completely open as long as it is deemed safe by our Tech Inspectors.
  • Kart Modified (KM): Shifter karts and any other karts that do not meet the requirements of any of the 3 HSCC kart classes listed above will run in the SCCA’s standard Kart Modified class. Please refer to the official SCCA Solo Rules for details.
